ObsCure II

In 2007, three years after the first game had come out, ObsCure II (or ObsCure: The Aftermath in North America) was released for the PlayStation 2, Wii, and PC, at a time when the 7th generation of consoles had already begun. This time the game would focus more on the story and the characters rather than the gameplay, which led to removing the permadeath system. Although it is very different from its predecessor, ObsCure II is unique in its own way. In 2009 the game was ported to PSP with the name ObsCure: The Aftermath in the whole world. Finally, in 2014, it was re-released on Steam by Mighty Rocket Studio, just like the first game, making this the only official way to play the game today.

Somewhat like its prequel, the Steam version of ObsCure II has more than one issue that can worsen the experience. Here's a list of the most important ones:

The issue of the black screen can be solved though, check this link for instructions. If you plan to play with a controller, the mouse pointer issue won't affect you much. As for the boat thing, it is still playable.

However, there are other reasons why you may prefer to play another version. The Wii and the PSP version have some extra content like Artwork, Story boards, a music player and a cutscene player. But of course, both versions needed to adapt the controls their own way, the PSP version can be played pretty well, but the Wii version can be a headache unless you play on real hardware with a real Wiimote.

With this in mind, you should be able to judge what version you want to play. It should be mentioned too that the lighting is different in the PS2 version, just like for the first game. I personally would recommend playing the PS2 version (if you don't really mind the lack of extra content, which isn't really a big deal) or the Steam version with the fix for the black screen issue. I (the admin of this site) have not tried the original PC version so I can't review it.
